Sorbitol is a new kind of  sweetener, and made from purified glucose as material via hydrogenation refining , concentrating .

When it was absorbed by human body ,it spreads slowly and then oxidizes to fructose ,and takes part in fructose metabolization. 

It doesn't affect blood sugar and uric sugar. Hence, it can be used as sweetener for diabetics. 

With high-moisture-tatiblizing, acid-resisitance and non-ferment nature ,it can be used as sweetener and monisturizer .

The sweet intensity contained in sorbitol is lower than that in sucrose ,and it can`t be utilized by some bacteria. 

It can be widely used in many industries such as food, leather, cosmetic , paper making ,textile , plastic, toothpaste and rubber .

Physical & Chemical Properties:

It is a Colourless or yellowish , clear and transparent liquid.

The sorbitol , mannitol and the galactose is isomer, the sorbitol chemical property is stable, not easily oxidation by air, and not react with the acid and alkali; and not easily fermentation with each kind of microorganism.

It has the heat-resisting performance; Under the high temperature (200 ℃ ) does not decompose.

The sorbitol is the hexatomic alcohol, has the certain dissolved metal the performance; May dehydrate the production sorbitol bitter wine under the hot conditions;

It may produce hydrogen reaction under the hot conditions, the carbon chain break and form the glycol, the trimethylene glycol, and the erythritol butantetraol;

If catalyst exists, it can produce the diethylene glycol dinitrate with the organic acid under esterification system.

Sorbitol Applications:

The sorbitol is one kind of versatility industrial chemicals, it has the extremely widespread function in food, daily chemical, medicine etc, and can be used as may take the sweet taste , excipient , antiseptic etc, simultaneously has the polyols nutrition superiority, such as low heat value, low sugar, guard against effect and so on.

Sorbitol as the excipient, guarantees the aerosol and the antifreeze in the toothpaste, add 25 ~ 30%, it can maintain the toothpaste lubrication and luster, and the feeling in the mouth is good. Besides, it also used as in cosmetics, has many applications.

Sorbitol can be used as raw material for producing vitamin C, also used as injection infusion , the medicine sheeting raw material , medicine dispersing agent, the auxiliaries, the freezing protecting agent, guard against crystal , the Chinese native medicineStabilizerand so on.

Sorbitol may use in surface active agent industry, or the polyether industry.
